Earwigs, or Pincher Bugs, are thin ovular bugs with a set of pinchers on the rear of their abdomen called a cersi. They feed on other insects and plants and have been associated with garden and crop damage. They can be found nearly everywhere in America as well as Europe, Africa, and Australia. Earwigs are nocturnal insects and are most active at night, but can be found in the day under rocks or in moist hidden areas. Although there are several tales about Earwigs crawling into ears, it is very uncommon for that to happen as earwigs are not interested in that.
