Are Mosquitoes Dangerous?

While mosquito bite marks are unbearably itchy, they are only a nuisance. However, mosquitoes can pose a serious threat to your health. Mosquitoes are known to carry and transmit diseases through their bites. Since mosquitoes fly, they are one of the most effective and fast disease spreaders in the world.

Mosquito-borne illnesses include:
  • Zika
  • West Nile virus
  • Malaria
  • Yellow fever
  • Dengue
  • St. Louis Encephalitis

In the U.S. the West Nile virus is the most commonly transmitted disease by mosquitoes.

What Can I Do To Protect My Skin Against Mosquito Bites?

If you're tired of being covered in itchy mosquito bites every summer, there are a few things you can to do reduce your chances of being bitten. When you go outside make sure to cover your skin as much as possible and use mosquito repellent on any areas of exposed skin. Be sure to keep them out of your house by covering any rips or holes in screens and keeping your door closed. You can also minimize the number of standing water sources in your yard such as birdbaths. This will reduce the number of mosquitoes in and around your home, which in turn reduces your risk of getting bitten.

When Should I Schedule Mosquito Control?

While mosquitoes are most active during summertime, we recommend beginning treatments in early spring. Early spring treatments are vital to curbing the mosquito population around your house, but that doesn't mean that you won't see positive results if you start your treatment any later. Our mosquito treatment process is highly effective and guaranteed to produce positive results.

For the best results possible, reach out to Greenix Pest Control for monthly treatments from April through October.

The Greenix Approach To Mosquito Control

As a leader in the pest control industry, you can count on Greenix to deliver effective, lasting protection against mosquitoes. During our initial appointment, your technician will perform a thorough mosquito inspection to identify any high-risk areas where standing water could become a breeding ground—such as mud puddles, birdbaths, and rain barrels. This inspection allows us to create a detailed treatment plan to effectively exterminate any existing mosquitoes and prevent new ones from coming along.

Every 30 days starting in April, we spray your entire yard with a safe, liquid concentrate. Careful to treat all bushes, shrubs, trees, and low points in the yard where water can gather, we not only take care of full-grown mosquitoes but also mosquito eggs, preventing new mosquitoes from hatching in your yard.
